It's Mardi Gras time y'all.
Mardi Gras literally means FAT TUESDAY in French. Historically, it refers to the practice of eating richer, fatty foods before the fasting of Lent which starts on Ash Wednesday.
When I was growing up I remember my uncle bringing me back beads and trinkets and telling stories of the parades, parties and wonderful food. It has always been on my bucket list to celebrate Mardi Gras in New Orleans (and enjoy a FRESH King Cake!)
And although those of us in the Pacific Northwest are thousands of miles away - it doesn't mean we can't join in on the fun and revelry!
